Intellectual freedom is a core value of the library profession, and a basic right in our democratic society. The Intellectual Freedom Round Table (IFRT) provides a forum for the discussion of activities, programs, and problems in intellectual freedom of libraries and librarians; serves as a channel of communications on intellectual freedom matters; promotes a greater opportunity for involvement among the members of the ¹Ü¼ÒÆŲÊͼ in defense of intellectual freedom; promotes a greater feeling of responsibility in the implementation of ¹Ü¼ÒÆŲÊͼ policies on intellectual freedom.

The staff of the Office for Intellectual Freedom is available to answer questions or provide assistance to librarians, trustees, educators and the public about intellectual freedom issues and resources.
