Description

Need to strengthen your library advocacy at the local level, state level, or beyond? Learn about the ¹Ü¼ÒÆŲÊͼ Ecosystem Initiative, an effort to strengthen library advocacy across library types through identification of shared priorities for action and unified messaging. The Ecosystem Subcommittee of the ¹Ü¼ÒÆŲÊͼ Committee on Library Advocacy (COLA) is charged to promote and explain the initiative across and beyond ¹Ü¼ÒÆŲÊͼ units, as well as to examine ¹Ü¼ÒÆŲÊͼ's practices and policies to encourage alignment with and support for ecosystem best practices.

Presenters

Dorcas HandDorcas Hand is a retired school librarian who has been working on the Ecosystem Toolkit since its start in 2017. She is also active on the Board of the Freedom to Read Foundation, and the Texas Library Association Executive Board, as well as ¹Ü¼ÒÆŲÊͼ Council as the Texas Councilor.



Bryan DuranBryan Duran is the Materials Manager of San Francisco Public Library’s Main Art & Music / Business & Technology Department. He is a new to serving on the Ecosystem Subcommittee. As a 2022 Emerging Leader, he worked with United for Libraries on a project that examined diversity in Library Boards, Friends Groups, and Foundations.
